Edwin
E. Bounds was born in Carthage (Panola county), Texas on 17 July 1922.
His initial birth record did not show his full name so his mother filed a
revision.
It is interesting that an apparent relative notarized
the document which seems like a conflict of interest. A check of
Texas law, however says that it is legal unless the notary is a party to
the instrument or financially or beneficially interested in the
transaction. |

Bounds in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Carthage (Panola county), Texas.
Edwin enlisted in the Army
at Tyler, TX on 23 November 1942.
Pvt Bounds was transferred
to Company I, 508th PIR from the 11th Replacement Depot on 10 August
1944.
He was sent to the 184th
General Hospital on 1 September 1944 for unknown reasons but returned to
the regiment and was transferred to Service Company on 22 September.
His condition apparently worsened as he was readmitted to the 184th
General Hospital and then transferred to the Parachute School, Fort
Benning, GA, 20 October 1944, perhaps for admission to the hospital
there for a higher level of care.
He was discharged from the
Army on 31 May 1945. |
