JACK BOWDEN

Grave marker for Jack Bowden in Section K, Site 16900-D, Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale )Suffolk county), New York.

 

  Jack registered for the draft in Jamaica, Queens, NY and was inducted into the Army on 8 September 1943.

Pvt Bowden was transferred from the 82ned Airborne Division to Hq 1st, 508th PIR on 7 July 1944.

He was severely injured in Holland in October 1944 when he was hit by artillery shell fragments causing compound fractures of his tibia and fibula,

On 31 May 1945, Pfc Bowden was transferred to the detachment of patients at the 188th General Hospital, Cirencester (Gloucestershire), England,

The hospital records indicate that he was to be discharged due to disability under  Section II, AR 615-360 (line of duty, Yes).

He was released from the Army on 21 September 1945.
