CHARLES E. BRAY

Grave marker for Charles E. Bray in Plot 2C, Site 7929, Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale (Suffolk county), New York.  His wife, Helen, who died in 1984, is inscribed on the obverse.

Charles enlisted in the Army at Tacoma, WA on 10 October 1942. 

On 4 November 1942, Pvt Bray was transferred from Fort Lewis, WA to Company D, 508th PIR.

Pvt Bray was appointed to the grade of Corporal on 12 April 1943 and then appointed as Sgt on 17 July 1943.  Then on 1 August 1944. he was appointed as SSgt.

SSgt. Bray was listed as slightly injured in action (battle casualty) on 11 February 1945.  He was able to return to duty 6 days later.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the Normandy assault.
