PARAPLEGIC VETERAN DIES
William. Brennan, City, Dies In Richmond Hospital
William T Brennan of 210 Park avenue, city, paraplegic veteran of
World War II. died last night at 6:30 in the McGuire Veterans Hospital,
Richmond, Va, where he was a patient for some time. He was 33 years of
age.
Mr. Brennan was wounded twice while serving with the armed forces,
the first time in Southern France on September 19, 1944, and the second
time in Germany, February 9. 1945. At that time he sustained permanent
injuries when hit by a sniper. He was flown back to America and has been
a patient at various veterans' hospitals until the time of his death
2nd Worse Case in Area
The young soldier, whose case was listed as the second worse
paraplegic in this area, enlisted June 5, 1942 in San Francisco,
California. He was a member of the 1st Special Service Force and later
was T4 In Company Company E of the 508th. Parachute Infantry Regiment.
His citations include the American Theatre ribbon. European African
Middle Eastern campaign medal Asiatic Pacific campaign medal, the Purple
Heart and. the Victory Medal. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School,
class Of 1934.
Mr. Brennan was a member of St Mary's Church, Kingston Post 283
VFW; the American Legion of Richmond, Va, and the Eagles.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Brennan, a brother,
Howard of Chlco. Calif., and a sister. Mrs. Edward Schwab of Blytheburn.
His body will arrive here tomorrow tomorrow and will be taken to
thr McLaughlin Funeral Home, t South Washington street, from where the
funeral will be held.

Veterans Pay Tribute
To William Brennan
The funeral of William F, Brennan of 210 Park Avenue, paraplegic
veteran of World War 2, was held yesterday morning from the M. J.
McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South . Washington Street, with military
honors being accorded by Anthracite Post 283, VFW, Kingston.
A requiem mass was -was celebrated in St. Mary's Church of the
Immaculate Conception by Rev. John Casey. Mrs. Bessie Riley was organist
and Edward Scnappert was soloist.
William Lakowitz, a paraplegic friend of Mr. Brennan, attended the
funeral, accompanied, by Leo Moore and Miss Irene Burke of McGuire
Veterans' Hospital, Richmond, Va., where Mr. Brennan died. Rev. Donald
Deuel pronounced benediction at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
In the veterans' detail were: commander, Ivan Rowbotham; chaplain.
. Gordon Roberts; color bearers, James Neele and Willard Cooper; buglers
James Seibert and John Hardiman; firing squad, Arthur Parker, Stewart
Gray, Francis Devlin and Al Sellock.
Bearers, . were Edgar Samuels, Ralph Brown, John Turinsky, John
Jones, David Bynon and Robert Zimmerman.
