JOSEPH C. BRESSLER

Grave marker for Joseph C. Bressler in Section 71, Site 102 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington (Arlington county), Virginia.

"Joe" enlisted in the Army on 12 February 1940 and later volunteered for parachutist duty.  By March 1944 he had been transferred to Hq 1st, 508th PIR.

Pvt Bressler was wounded twice in Holland, first on 1 October and then again on 20 October.

Pfc Bressler received the Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster as well as the Bronze Service Arrowhead device and the Combat Infantryman Badge, both of which were awarded for participation in Normandy assault

Joe, as he was known,  is memorialized today with this paving stone at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, Fayetteville, NC.
