Grave marker of Murphy Bridges in Section 69 Site 4728 of
Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
Murphy enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 24, 1942 and
volunteered for parachutist duty. He was assigned to the 508th PIR
and while still a Corporal he was awarded the Silver Star.
He remained in the service until January, 2,
1946 when he returned to the U.S. after serving in the Honor Guard
detail in Frankfurt. |
