   WILSALL Donald P. "Pat" Brogan, 80, longtime Wilsall resident, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at the Las Vegas home of his niece, Cynde SwandaL
   Cremation has taken place in Las Vegas. Memorial services will be held 1 pm Friday, Feb. 6, in the chapel of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Wilsall Cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship at the Shields Valley Senior Center in Wilsall.

Donald P. "Pat" Brogan, 80, longtime Wilsall resident, died on Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the Las Vegas home of his niece Cynde Swandal. At his bedside were his devoted wife, Marie and his sister Bonnie Swandal.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, the oldest of seven children, Mr. Brogan became a surrogate parent to his siblings following the death of their mother when he was 12 years old. Mr. Brogan moved with his family to Montana in 1940, where he spent his life ranching, trapping and helping others. He was an avid coin collector, reader and pinochle player.

In 1944, Mr. Brogan enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper and rifle expert. He was honorably discharged in 1946 at the rank of sergeant. He received several awards, including the Belgian Croix de Guerre. In 1988 he married Marie Kipp. Following his retirement, they traveled extensively, but always returned to their home in Wilsall.

His survivors include his wife, Marie (Kipp) Brogan; four step-children; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; his sister Bonnie; brother Tim Brogan and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Webb and Carolyn Brogan; stepmothers Edna and Louise; brothers, Dick, Jim, Bob and Michael Brogan and sister Virginia Markman.

Cremation has taken place in Las Vegas. Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2004 in the chapel of Franzen Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, followed by a time of fellowship at the Shields Valley Senior Center in Wilsall. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Wilsall Cemetery. 

Local arrangements are under the care of Franzen Davis Funeral Home in Livingston.

Donald registered for the draft ca 1942.  At that time he was living 10 miles east of Wilsall, MT. 

He enlisted in the Army at Butte, MT on 17 July 1944.

Pvt Brogan was transferred from the 505th PIR to Hq 2ned 508th PIR on 9 October 1945.

[Jumpmaster Note: according to the 2000 census, Wilsall is a small town with only 237 inhabitants.  It lies about 50 miles NNE of Bozeman, MT]
