Buford Lee Brown was born to W. Hardy Brown and Barbara Ann
Scott on Feb 8, 1924, in Daisy, OK. He married Freda May
Thompson on Feb. 14,1947 in [Oklahoma City] OK.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Freda
May Brown; 2 daughters, Barbara Helms, and Dorothy Thomas and
husband James; 2 sons, Bobby Brown and wife Donna;- Donald Brown
and wife Patricia; 3 sisters, Lorene Burns; Inez Tidmore; and
Charlene Rayburn; 2 brothers, Troy Brown and Jim Brown; 10
grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and one on the way, and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Buford graduated from Foster High School in
1943. Served in the U.S. Army in WWII. Member of the 82nd
Airborne Division served in Normandy, Holland, and the Battle of
the Bulge.
He drove trucks for Phillips Petroleum after
the war, then went to work at Tinker AFB in the machine shop and
as a QC inspector for 27 years. He enjoyed his time quail
hunting, fishing and his time with his family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June
22, 2002, 2:00 pm, at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, with
burial to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.

Buford enlisted in
the Army at Oklahoma City, OK on 2 June 1943. After
completion of jump school he was assigned to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR.
He was wounded in
action on 9 June 1944 in Normandy and again in Holland on
1 October 1944.
His military
awards include the Purple Heart with 1 OLC and the Bronze
Service Arrowhead for his participation in the Normandy assault. |
