Iowa WWII Service  Compensation Application for Gus Brown, Jr. indicates that he entered service on 8 October 1942 and was discharged on 3 December 1942.

During that period Pvt Brown was transferred from the Reception Center, Camp Dodge, IA  to Camp Blanding, FL where he was assigned to Company A, 508th PIR.

Although the application stated that he was in Company G it cannot be substantiated by available records.  In fact, even his departure from the regiment cannot be found.

Apparently he was transferred to the 262nd Infantry Regiment, 62nd Infantry Division which was activated 15 April 1943 at Camp Blanding.
