BERNARD BUMGARNER

the family has grown.  Bernard is now listed as age 12 with 2 siblings as well as 2 step-siblings

On 7 May 1943 Bernard married full-blooded American Indian Mildred Nioma Slade [1922-1995] in Aberdeen (Grays Harbor), WA.

Grave markers for Bernard Bumgarner and spouse  Mildred in Sunset Memorial Park, Hoquiam (Grays Harbor county), Washington.

Bernard enlisted in the Army on 23 August 1943 and was assigned to Company F, 508th PIR.

Pfc Bumgarner was wounded in action in Holland on 17 September 1944 and evacuated to a field hospital.  He returned to duty on 22 October 1944 and was transferred to Service Company for non-combat duty.

He was discharged on 11 January 1946,
