Grave marker for Donald J. Burke in

(Arlington county), Virginia.
Donald enlisted in the Army at San
Francisco, CA on 9 November 1942 and was assigned to Company G, 508th
PIR. By August 1943 he held the rank of sergeant.
Sgt Burke was promoted to Staff
Sergeant on 5 November 1943 and became the 1st Sergeant on 26 July 1944.
Exactly one month later he was
discharged to accept a commission as a second Lieutenant and was
promoted to 1st Lt. on 31 October 1944.
He remained in the Army and achieved
the rank of Lt. Colonel before retiring. |
