LAWRENCE E. BURNHAM

Grave marker for Lawrence E. Burnham in Plot 2Z, Site 2368, Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale (Suffolk county), New York.

 

Lawrence registered for the draft in Islip, NY on 16 October 1940 and was inducted into the Army on 8 February 1943.

Pvt Burnham was transferred from Hq Field Force Replacement Depot 19 to Service Company, 508th PIR on 27 May 1944 and then to Co I, date unknown..

He was promoted to Pfc on 31 August 1944 and to Corporal on 19 January 1945.

Cpl Burnham was wounded in action in Belgium on 29 January 1945 and evacuated.

On 26 June 1945 he was transferred to the hospital's department of patients.  He did not return to the regiment.

He was discharged on 15 November 1945.
