THEODORE F. BUTCHER
... Theodore Butcher of 414 Decatur St. [Brooklyn, NY], has received his wings as a paratrooper.

Grave marker for Theodore F. Butcher in Section 2R, Site 1579 of the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale (Suffolk county), New York.

Theodore enlisted in the Army at Jamaica. NY on 6 March 1941.  He completed jump school and served with the 551st Infantry Battalion. 

Pvt Butcher was transferred from the 551st to Company E, 508th PIR on 27 January 1945.

Pfc Butcher was hospitalized as a non-battle casualty on 3 February 1945, possibly due to frostbite.  He was able to return to duty on 8 April 1945.

On 18 August 1945 he was transferred  to the 513th PIR.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for the Southern France Campaign and Airborne Operations.
