JACK B. BUTLER
Jack B. Butler, Sr., 88, passed away at his home on March 12, 2012. He was born July 5, 1923 in Cotulla, Texas to W. C. and Suzan Butler. He had been resident of Alice since 1939.

Mr. Butler was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and received 2 Purple Hearts.

He was a Master Plumber and owned Butler Plumbing and loved farming and cattle.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn Butler and a grandson, Jack B. Butler, III. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mozelle Butler of Alice; one daughter, Dianne (Tommy) Dean of Houston; two sons, William J. (Cynthia) Brock of Houston and Jack B. (Yolanda) Butler, Jr. of Alice; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 16th at Holmgreen Mortuary with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Alice Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association of Alice.

Pfc Butler was transferred from the 509th PIR to Company G, 508th PIR on 4 February 1945.

His military decorations include the Bronze star Medal, Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for Southern France Campaign and Airborne Operations.
