George Martin Cafferello, Sr.

Mr. Cafferello, 76, of Charlotte, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday afternoon, May 17, 2006. As George passed away from this life, at his home, he was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Schenectady, NY to the late Patsy Cafferello and Rose Santora. In 1951, as a traveling soldier from New York to Ft. Benning, GA, he met his future wife, now the late Carolyn Summers Cafferello. Following their marriage, they moved to Charlotte and for 52 years, lied in the area rasing their family. George retired as Supervisor with Virkler Chemical Company, after many years of service. He loved to fish, bowl, and was an avid sports fan. However, his true love through the years was his grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Mr. Cafferello's immediate family includes two sons, George M. "Marty" Cafferello, Jo. and his fiance' Kellie Sloop, and Carl B. Cafferello, and his daughter, Cynthia "Cyndi" Lyerly and her husband Tommie, all of Charlotte; his sister, Theresa Cassaro of Schenectady, NY; 3 grandchildren, Carly Cafferello, Katie Park and Joshua Lyerly and his wife Julie; his great granddaughter, Taylor Lyerly; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Freedom Drive, Rick Felts, D. Min, officiating. The family will gather at 1 p.m at the graveside prior to the service to greet friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Norman, 705 Griffith Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036.
