Clarence Junior Casteel, 78 of Bowie, MD formerly of Newburg, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
He was born in Webster Springs, WV on August 24, 1932, son of the late Clarence J Sr. and Alice L Murphy Casteel. Junior attended Newburg High School.
He was in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a Paratrooper and Pilot.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting fishing and crabbing. Junior worked as a Lineman for the Pepco Power Company of Washington D.C. for over 30 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 66, Bowie, MD.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Geraldine Virginia Miller Casteel, one son, Terry Alan Casteel and wife Carolyn of Brandywine, MD; one daughter, Valerie Dee Casteel-Lowe of Bowie MD; one grandchild; Frank Steven Lowe, Bowie MD; two brothers, William Clinton Casteel and wife Margie of Lincolnton, GA, Jerry Casteel and wife Barbara of Newburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Richard Casteel, two sisters, Betty Beavers and Audrey M Hutcherson.
Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, WV, Monday, November 8, 2010 from 2-8 pm and Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 11am until time of service at 2 pm with the Rev. Sam Cline officiating.
Interment will follow at Damon Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guards, Preston County
WA Chapter 977, and the Preston County National Guards from Camp Dawson.
