LOUIS J. CASTELLANOS
Louis enlisted in the Army at Los Angeles, CA on 26 May 1943.

Pvt Castellanos was assigned to Hq 1st, 508th PIR on 26 May 1944 and went intro combat on 18 December 1944 as the regiment was pressed into action for the Battle of The Bulge.

Promoted to Pfc as of 4 January 1945 it was just three days later that he was wounded in action and sent to a field hospital.  He did not return to the regiment.

Pfc Castellanos was staged at Camp 20 Grand (one of many so-called "Cigarette Camps") in Hénouville in the department of Seine-Maritime, France for return to the U.S.

He was listed aboard a returning ship as a member of the 63rd Fighter Wing.  He may have been transferred into that unit after his hospitalization or just given a slot on the ship as a mater of convenience.

The ship sailed from Le Havre and docked in New York City harbor on 24 November 1945.

Rather than return to his native El Paso, TX, Louis elected to settle in Massachusetts.  On 2 August 1950 he married married Barbara Eleanor Sheehan [1929–2010] in Waban, MA, a small community near Boston.

Louis died on 16 September 1977 in Agawam, MA near Springfield.
