Grave marker for Brady L. Casto enlisted in the Army at Huntington, WV on 10 October 1942

Brady enlisted in the Army at Huntington, WV on 10 October 1942 and was assigned to Company F.

He was transferred to the 541st PIR on 27 November 1943.  Whether he fought in Normandy or Holland is unknown but during the Ardennes campaign T/5 Casto was taken prisoner.

He was liberated from Stalag 9B and on 28 April 1945 was listed as one of thousands of ex-POWs aboard the USS General W. P. Richardson (see line 52)

Commissioned in November 1944, the Richardson was making its fourth Atlantic crossing and was still wearing camouflage paint.
