Grave marker for Vito A. Cavalcante in the Calvary
Cemetery, Aiken (Aiken county), South Carolina.
Vito, a native of New Jersey, enlisted in the Army at New York City, NY
on 22 December 1943. It is unclear whether he was in combat during
the France or Holland campaigns but he was listed in Belgium as
"slightly injured in action" on 2 Feb 1945. He may have been
amongst the many who suffered frostbite of the feet. |
