Kansas City [KS] Star, January 3, 1992

ALBERT CHAVEZ SR.

   Albert Chavez Sr., 67, Mazatlan, Mexico, formerly of Kansas City, died Dec. 31, 1991, at a hospital in Tucson, Ariz. He was born in Aguacalientes, Mexico, and lived in Kansas City before moving to Sacramento, Calif., in 1967. He also lived in Rochelle, Ill., before moving to Mazatlan eight years ago.

   Mr. Chavez worked for Swift & Co. for more than 30 years; he retired in 1983. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez Chavez of the home; four sons, David Chavez, Denver, Phillip Michael Chavez and John Edward Chavez of Kansas City and Albert Chavez Jr., Chicago; two daughters, Suzanne Taylor Jones, Houston, and Connie M. Calcara, Kansas City; three brothers, Jesse Chavez, Iola, Kan., and Benny Chavez and Pete Chavez of Wichita; five sisters, Florintina Perez, Iola, Semona Delphin and Alice Querry of Wichita, Ruth Padilla, Humboldt, Kan., and Mary Chavez, Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Memorial services will be at noon today at Redemptorist Fathers Catholic Church. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
