ELBERT W. CLARK
Elbert W. Clark, Sr.

   SUDBURY Elbert (AL) W. Clark, Sr., 87, longtime resident of Sudbury, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011.
   He leaves his beloved wife of 61 years, Arlette E. (Hriniak) Clark; his son, Elbert W. Clark, Jr. of Lancaster, his son, Michael A. Clark of James Island. SC.; his daughter, Deborah M. Klee and husband Russell of Midway, GA; his son, Donald W. Clark, Sr. and wife Marion of Uxbridge; his daughter, Nancy J. Taverna of Sudbury, his daughter, Doreen J. Richard and husband Paul of Belaira Buffs, FL, and his daughter, Marion W. Figueiredo of Quincy; he was predeceased by his brother, William Clark. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
   Mr. Clark joined the U.S. Army in 1939. A proud veteran serving first with the 101 Airborne, and then to his beloved 82nd Airborne where he earned the rank of Master Sergeant. He served two tours of active duty, which included 42 months in Europe, he made 137 jumps during WWII. He jumped in 4 of the 5 Combat drops of the War, Sicily, Salerno, Sainte Mere-Eglise, France on D-Day and Holland. Mr. Clark then enlisted in the National Guard, stationed out of Fort Drum, NY from 1952 to 1961.
   He was Past Commander of the American Legion, Sudbury Post #191.
   Mr. Clark served 35 years, in many positions, from lineman to Supervisor before retiring from the Boston Edison Co. in 1982, He enjoyed building and woodworking and was an avid sportsman throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son's,
   Above all, Al's passion was his family. For many years Al enjoyed family summer vacationing at the camp he built in Wilmot Flats, NH. In recent years he often enjoyed attending the numerous activities of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
   Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, March 30th from 4:00 - 8:00pm at the Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury.
   Interment will be private. A celebration of his life is planned for this summer; details will be announced at a later date.

Elbert registered for the draft in Hartford, Connecticut on 30 June 1942  and was inducted into the Army  at Fort McClellan, AL on 20 December 1945.

Pvt Clark was transferred to Hq 3rd, 508th PIR on late 1945.

Hi final resting place is unknown but may be in New Town Cemetery, Sudbury, MA as that is where his wife, Arlette, was buried.
