LAWRENCE L. CLEVELAND

Lawrence Cleveland, 46, of Port Gibson, was killed near Slidell, La., Sunday when the car in which he was riding struck an overpass abutment.

Grave marker for Lawrence Cleveland in Section H, Lot 100, Wintergreen Cemetery, Port Gibson (Claiborne county), Mississippi.

Lawrence registered for the draft in Lorman, MS on 30 June 1942 and was inducted into the Army at Camp Shelby, MS on 7 January 1943.

Pvt Cleveland was transferred to  Company C, 508th PIR on 3 May 1945 and was appointed to Pfc 4 days later.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Southern France Campaign and Airborne Operations.
