MARSHALL O. COLLINS

 

Marshall registered for the draft in Porterville (Tulare county), California on 16 February 1942.

On 22 October 1942, Pvt Collins was transferred from the Reception Center, Fort MacArthur, CA to Company B, 508th PIR,

He was promoted to Corporal on 17 July 1943.

Cpl Collins was wounded in action on 7 June 1944 and evacuated.  He returned to duty on 16 August 1944.

Cpl Collins was transferred to 10th Reinforcement Depot on 10 February 1945.

He married Ellen M Goering in Yakima, WA on 1 November 1960.  It was the second marriage for both of them.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge awarded for action during Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944.

Marshall was murdered on 13 March 1974 and was buried in Plot K-1650-1, Hillcrest Cemetery, Porterville (Tulare county), California.
