Edwin Vance Cooke, 75, of Old Joe
Edwin Vance Cooke 75. of St, Joe died Saturday (Sept. 9,
1995)"' at Baxter County Regional Hospital He was a retired owner and operator of a
restaurant.
Born June 11. 1920. in Beloit, Kan . he was a so of the late Charles W and
Ethyl Lislie Cooke. He married the former Ellen M. Heathe on Oct. 1. 1962. at Carson City, Nev. He was a Protestant, a member of Crocker Masonic
Lodge in Daly City. Calif, and was a paratrooper in World War II.
Survivors include his wife. Ellen, of St. Joe; two sons. Charles Dean Cooke of
Goose Creek. S C.. and Vance Heathe Cooke of Cloverdale. Calif; one daughter. J. Colleen Gilmore of Covelo. Calif; and two sisters. Alice Missic of Mountain Home and Ava Swan of Odessa, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Funeral and burial will be private. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

William registered for the draft in Las Cruces, NM
on 18 October 1943 and was inducted into the army at Fort Bliss, El
Paso, TX on 3 December 1943.
Initially assigned to Service Company, 508th PIR,
Pvt Cobb was transferred to Co D on 21 November 1944.
He was promoted to Pfc on 20 January 1945.
Pfc Cobb was evacuated to a field hospital
classified as a non-battle casualty on 2 February 1945. He
returned to duty on 31 March 1945.
Pfc Cobb was transferred to the 506th PIR, 101st
Airborne Division on 15 October 1945,
He married Letha June Covey in Lubbock, Texas on
24 December 1952. |
