Jewish Welfare Board file card for Jack B. Coppersmith documenting who to notify that he had been wounded in action. The actual date of the wound was shown as 31 December 1944 in the Co A Morning Reports.

Pvt Coppersmith was assigned to Service Company, 508th PIR on 3 October 1944.  He was transferred to Company  on 22 November 1944.  He was listed as wounded in action on 31 December 1944 and evacuated to a field hospital.  He returned to the company on 13 February 1945.

He was promoted to Pfc on 1 March 1945.  Already the recipient of the Purple Heart,  he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945.

Pfc Coppersmith re-enlisted multiple times including a transition to the US Air Force. His final discharge date was 31 May 1969 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
