Grave marker for Jose G. Cortez Section 24 Site 460, Fort
Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio (Bexar County), Texas.
Jose was initially posted to a tank destroyer unit before
volunteering for parachute duty. after completion of jump school,
he was assigned to Company A, 508th PIR.
Cpl Cortez was wounded in action on 22 Jan 1945 in the
Battle of The Bulge and evacuated to a field hospital. He was sent
to a hospital in the U.S. on 12 Apr 1945 and did not return to the
regiment. |
