A year later, on 22 June 1944 he was again shipped overseas, this time to the ETO.  although his transfer into the 508th was nor recorded, he does appear in Company F as going on sick call in August 1944 and then being transferred to Service Company the following month.  He returned to Company D on 22 November 1944.

On 31 January 1945 he was evacuated as a non-battle casualty, perhaps due to suffering frostbite.  still hospitalized, Pvt Crawford was transferred to the hospital's detachment of patients on 1 May 1945..  He left the ETO on 26 June 1945.and was discharged at Fort Dix, NJ on 1 July.

Following his discharge, the draft board updated their record to indicate that he had completed his obligation.
