Grave marker for Thomas C. Cresswell in Section A-3, Site
683 of the Fort Benning Post Cemetery, Fort Benning (Muscogee county),
Georgia. Thomas enlisted in the Army on 8 April
1943 and served in Company G throughout WWII. He was discharged on
27 December 1945 and then re-enlisted on 19 January 1948. He
served though 30 April 1966 and retired as a Master Sergeant.
His military awards include a Purple Heart for a wound
sustained on 8 November 1944 in Holland; the Combat Infantryman Badge
for action during Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944
;and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device also awarded for participation
in Normandy assault. |
