FLOYD O. CURTIS

Grave marker for Floyd O. Curtis in Section QQ, Site 654 of the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga (Hamilton county), Tennessee.

Floyd enlisted in the Army at Ft Oglethorpe, GA on 21 October 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty.  After completion of jump school he was sent overseas.

On 10 August 1944 Pvt Curtis was transferred to Company D, 508th PIR from the 11th Replacement Depot.

Pvt Curtis was listed as wounded in action in Holland on 1 October 1944 but was able to return to duty on 6 October.

During the Battle of the Bulge, he was listed as slightly injured in action on 30 December 1944 and evacuated, possibly due to frostbite.  On 12 April 1945 he was transferred to another hospital and did not return to the regiment.

Pvt Curtis received the Bronze star Medal and the Purple Heart amongst other decorations.
