CZAHOR, JOHN PAUL, 87, of Clearwater [Florida], died Tuesday (March 28, 2006) at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.

He was born in Barkhamsted, Conn., and came here in 1979 from New Jersey. He worked 30 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Company D, and received a Purple Heart, three Bronze Stars and other medals.

He was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers, the Chapter 11 Disabled American Veterans and Old Fort Harrison Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2473, both of Clearwater.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Noreen; two sons, John, Howell, Mich., and Kenneth, Springtown, Pa.; a daughter, Maren Bencivenga, Hillsborough, N.J.; a sister, Josephine Pierson, New Jersey; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
