Grave marker for Calvin C. Daniel in the
Bice Cemetery (Tallapoosa county), Alabama.
Calvin enlisted in the Army at Ft
McClellan, AL on 13 April 1943.
On 26 October 1943 Pvt Daniel was
transferred to Company I, 508th from the Rear Detachment of the 508th.
Pvt Daniel jumped into Normandy on
D-0day and was reported as MIA on 8 June 1944. He later rejoined
the company and was wounded in action on 21 June.
His military decorations include the
Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for
participation in Normandy assault. |
