VERNIE F. DAUBY

Grave marker for Vernie F. Dauby in the Greenwood Cemetery, Tell City (Perry county), Indiana.

Vernie enlisted in the Army at Louisville, KY on 6 October 1941 and as a volunteer parachutist was assigned to the 507th PIR.

On 16 October 1942 Pvt Dauby was one of the many men transferred from the 507th to the 508h as a cadre team.  During the next six months he jumped in another manner ... from Private to Staff Sergeant.

SSgt Dauby was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for hs participation in the Normandy assault.
