Frank Denny, 89, Ottumwa

   OTTUMWA --- Frank W. Denny, 89, of Texarkana, Ark., formerly of Ottumwa, died Dec. 23, 2012, in a local nursing home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home–Downtown. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Alliance, 1105 College Drive, Texarkana, Texas 75501. Online tributes may be made at www.eastfuneralhomes.com.

Delayed birth certificate for Wilbur Frank Denny in Wapello county, IA.

Note that the first name of "Frank" was crossed out and instead became the middle name of the child.  In later life, he swapped the middle and first names and his records primarily state "Frank" as the first name ... but ... not always.

  

Frank registered for the draft in Ottumwa, IA on 30 June 1942 and was inducted into the Army at Camp Dodge Herrold, IA on 14 June 1944.

Pfc Denny was transferred to Company F, 508th PIR in late 1945.  On 21 December 1945 he was sent on  TDY (temporary duty)  with Hq Command, European Theatre.  The purpose is not known.

He returned to the U,S. on 30 May 1946 and was discharged on June 1946.

On 14 December 1946, he married Velma Lucille Black. both were from Ottumwa, IA

 

Frank submitted this application for the Iowa WWII Veterans Bonus program on 7 May 1949.  He was credited with 25 ,months of domestic duty and 16 months of foreign service which earned him a $290 benefit.

Franks remains were cremated and the disposition of his ashes is unknown.
