TYRREL E. DeVOLIN, born July 19, 1921, at Radium Springs, New Mexico. Spent youth at Smith Bros. Ranch between Marfa and Fort. Davis, Texas.
Graduated from Fort Davis High School in 1938, attended John Tarleton Junior College and graduated from Texas A & M College with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1943.
During World War II, he was a Parachute Infantry Combat Unit Commander, active in three major campaigns and one combat airborne landing behind enemy lines. After World War II, he was selected to be an officer on General Dwight D. Eisenhower honor guard. He was discharged in October, 1946 as a Captain.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Carol J. Stewart, on January 25, 1947. They spent several years ranching in West Texas and Mississippi before moving to El Paso in 1961. He owned several businesses before becoming the Federal Veterinary Inspector in charge of meat establishments in the El Paso area, including Peyton Packing Co. He retired in 1983.
Preceded death by his beloved wife, on November 10, 1994, son Glenn on November 22, 1997 and daughter Doris O'Keefe.
He is survived by his son-in-law Danny Steffens, five grandchildren, Rhett, Amy and Charlotte DeVolin, Ryan O'Keefe and Shelby Steffens.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Martin Funeral Home Central. Graveside
service will be held 1:30 pm Friday, December 20, 2013 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
