DON L. DICKS

  Don L. Dicks 85, Enterprise, Kansas, died Friday September 7, 2007 at the Enterprise Estates Nursing Center, Enterprise, Kansas. He was born July 22, 1922 at Herington, Kansas, the son of Roy M. and Francis (Bane) Dicks. He grew to manhood in the community of his birth and attended the local schools. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in WW II. He made the army his career, serving in the 82nd Airborne and later the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He retired at Ft. Riley, Kansas in 1965. On January 17, 1946 he was united in marriage with Marjorie J. Hatfield in Hope, Kansas. Following his retirement they made their home in Enterprise, Kansas. Mrs. Dicks preceded him in death on December 24, 1999.  He was a member of the Christian Church, the Enterprise Masonic Lodge, and the ISIS Shrine where he served as Potentate in 1985. He also served as Municipal Court Judge for the city of Enterprise for 12 years.
    Surviving are one son Darl L. Dicks, Kissimmee, Florida, 3 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and other relatives. Besides his wife Marjorie he was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene and Helen.
    Following cremation, graveside services with military honors, will be held at the Ft. Riley Post Cemetery, Ft. Riley, Kansas, on Thursday September 13, 2007 at 10:30 AM. With Rev. Jack Craig officiating.
    The family of Don L. Dicks suggests that friends may contribute to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospitals, c/o Abdallah Shrine Temple, 5300 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66202 in his memory. The Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene, Kansas, is in charge of arrangements.
