Gilbert Diffenderfer, of Paxtang, died Monday, November 8,
2004 at Camp Hill Care Center.
He was born September 1, 1927 in New Bloomfield, a son of the late Harry
and Helen Diffenderfer.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1945 and in the Army as a
paratrooper and company commander in Korea, where he was awarded the
silver and bronze star and 2 purple hearts. He was employed by AMP,
Inc., for 29 years, in the financial department.
He was a member of the Paxton Presbyterian Church, New
Cumberland VFW and the Lawnton Legion. He was a member of the Paxtang
Borough Council for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Martha (Caldwell); daughter, Diane and sons,
Thomas and Donald; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; brother-in-law,
William Caldwell and wife, Janet and sister-in-law, Lenore Caldwell. He
was preceded in death by a brother, Harry.
A memorial service will be held at his church, 3500 Sharon Street,
Harrisburg, on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 10: 30 a.m. Interment with
full military honors will follow at 12: 30 p.m., at Indiantown Gap
National Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Auer Memorial Home and
