JOHN M. DILWORTH

Grave marker for John M. Dilworth in Section 19, Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo (Lucas county), Ohio.

John enlisted in the Army at Toledo, OH on 18 November 1942/

Pvt Dilworth was transferred to Co E from Hq Rear Detachment, 508th PIR, Camp Mackall, NC on 26 October 1943. details of his arrival at the rear detachment are not known/

Pvt Dilworth was listed as seriously wounded in action in France on 5 July 1944 and evacuated to a field hospital.  He returned to duty on 14 August.

Following his return John went through a series of run-ins with the military police and was confined in civilian, regimental and divisional facilities. 

He last appears on 508th records which show that on 22 January 1945 he was placed in the 82nd Airborne stockade pending a court martial.  The outcome is not known.
