JOSEPH J. DONER
DONER - Joseph James William Doner, 62, 354 Phyllis Ave., Rochelle, died Monday, Dec. 26, 1988, in Rochelle Community Hospital.
   Born Jan. 12, 1926, in Rochelle, son of Francis W. and Verdell Vallem Doner.
   Lifelong Rochelle resident. Self-employed painter. Member VFW Post 3878. Umpire for Rochelle Little League many years.
   Survivors include his wife, Louise, Rochelle; four sons, Martin, Rochelle, Michael and Craig, St. Louis, Mo., and Timothy, Davenport, Iowa; five daughters, Julie at home, Renee Baldi, Denise and Lisa Doner and Lorine Gonzalez, all St. Louis; and sister, Donna (Jerry) Rooks, Phoenix, Ariz.
   Predeceased by parents and brother, Francis E. Doner.
   Services at 10:30 a.m. Friday, De. 30 in Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 4th Avenue and 6th Street, Rochelle, with the rev. Francis P. Kennedy officiating.
   Burial in Lawnridge Cemetery, Rochelle. Memorial to be established.

Joseph registered for the draft in Oregon, IL on 14 January 1944 and was inducted into the Army on 12 June 1944.

On 2 March 1945, Pvt Doner was transferred from the 11th Reinforcement Depot to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR.

Pfc Doner was included on a list of Hq 2nd men who "desire to re-enlist in the Regular Army"

He was discharged on 5 June 1946.
