WALTER C. DRURY

Grave marker for Walter C. Drury in Plot: Section HH, Lot 544, grave 1A of the National Memorial Park, Falls Church (Fairfax), Virginia.

Walter enlisted in the Army on 3 March 1942 in Washington, DC.  He volunteered for parachutist duty and was assigned to the 503rd PIR at Fort Bragg, NC,  In October 1942, already a Pfc, he was transfered from the 503rd Band to the 508th as a bandsman.

He continued to gain rank rapidly progressing to T/4 by February 1943. He remained with the 508th Band until November 1943 when he was transferred to the 541st PIR.

The remainder of his military career is unknown.  Walter died in Ormond Beach, (Volusia county), Florida and his remains were laid to rest in Virginia not far fro his birthplace of Washington, DC.
