ALFRED J. DUFAULT

   NORWICH- Alfred J. Dufault, 81, of 148 Central Avenue, died on Monday, August 6, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.
   On October 26, 1925, he was born in Norwich, Connecticut, the son of the late Wildy and Dora (Gladue) Dufault.
   Alfred was a Veteran of World War II having served as a Paratrooper with the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division in Germany.
   After the war he returned to Norwich and, on April 3, 1948, he married Genevieve Pietrowski at St. Mary Church in Norwich.
   He was retired from Robertson Paperbox in Montville, where he worked for many years.
   Alfred was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of 59 years, Genevieve; three daughters, Genevieve Dufault of Norwich, Geraldine Brown and her husband Paul of Griswold and Patricia Gunnison and her husband David, of Norwich; one brother, Gerald Dufault of Norwich; one sister, Beatrice Yovino of Preston; four grandchildren, Paul J. Brown, Dorothy E. Houde, David M. Brown and Jason M. Salvas; four great-grandchildren, Bethany L. McNail, Emily R. Brown, Christopher R. Vetter and Ana R. Brown. He was predeceased by his great-grandson, Brian A. Brown.
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Norwich. Burial, with presentation of Military Honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
   Donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary Church, 70 Central Ave., Norwich, CT. The Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave., is in charge of arrangements.

Alfred registered for the draft in Norwich, CT on 26 October 1943.

Pvt Dufault was transferred from the 3td Replacement Depot to Company C, 508th PIR on 113 February 1943.

He was listed as slightly injured in action on 13 February 1945 and evacuated.

Pvt Dufault returned to the company on 8 March 1945.

His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the campaign, 18 December 1944 to 20 February 1945.
