George D. Durand
1921-2008

   KANSAS CITY, Mo. — George David Durand, 86, Kansas City, died Jan. 19, 2008.
   Survivors: wife, Bettie Durand, sons, Gary and Daryl Durand; daughter Sheri Durand Kutz; grandchildren, Dustin Durand, Emily Durand and Michelle Harrison Linnell and great-grandchildren, Blake, Jacob, Will, Danielle, Faith and Jessica.
   Visitation: Wednesday, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Rollins Funeral Home with service to follow. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Thursday, Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery,

Grave marker for George D. Durand in Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City (Clay county), Missouri.

Pvt Durand was injured in December 1944, the WWII Hospital Admission Card Files, show his injury was in "Knee region - Popliteal space; Causative Agent: Bullet, Pistol or Revolver, Injury, non-battle."

He was returned to duty in January 1945 and on  8 Feb 45 he was transferred from the 509th PIR to Company QA, 508th PIR.  Two days later he was transferred to Company B.

 

The date of his discharge is unknown but George's draft record was  updated in Kansas City, MO on 20 October 1945.

On 8 June 1946, George married Bettie Jean Alexander in Jackson (Girardeau county), MO.  she lies beside him in the Terrace Park Cemetery
