GORDON S. DYER
Gordon S. Dyer of Kinder, Louisiana
April 4, 1922 - December 4, 2009

   Iowa [Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana] - Mr. Gordon S. Dyer age 87 went peacefully to his heavenly home Friday, December 4, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.
   Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00pm in First Baptist Church of Iowa. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Iowa under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
   Visitation will be held in Ardoin Funeral Home Friday from 3pm-9pm and will continue Saturday in First Baptist Church of Iowa at 12:00 noon until time of service.
   Mr. Dyer was a resident of Woodlawn. He served his country during WWII in the 87th [sic] Airborne Division.  He also retired from Texas Gas after serving over 30 years of service.
   Survivors include his wife Maude Skeen of Iowa; two sons, Steve Dyer & wife Rosalie of Eunice, Craig Dyer & wife Elaine of Lake Charles; three daughters, Rebecca Chance & husband Glenn of Beaumont, Janice Amy & husband Donald of Eunice, Karen Deshotel & husband Russell of Friendswood, TX; one brother, James Dyer of El Cajon, CA; 9 grandchildren, Amy Lanier, Christopher Reed, Troy Dyer, Dwayne Amy, Jennifer Deshotel, Jillyn Amy, Zachary Deshotel, & Shanna Burke; 6 great grandchildren.
   Mr. Dyer is preceded in death by his wife Melba Dyer and his parents, Steve & Mary Dyer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Iowa Missions. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.ardoinfuneralhome.com

Gordon enlisted in the Army on 29 October 1950 enlisted at Jackson, MS.  His registration with the Selective Service (draft) Board occurred post-war in Jennings (Jefferson Davis Parish), Louisiana.following his discharge two days earlier.
