Harold Eby, age 96 of Landis Homes formerly of Strasburg
Road, Kinzers, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on
Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was the husband of the late Anna Houck Eby who
passed away on December 15, 2004.
He was born in Ephrata, son of the late David K. & Anna Sandoe Eaby. He
was a member of Strasburg Mennonite Church where in the past he was
caretaker of the cemetery.
Harold was self -employed in the poultry business for over 40 years. In
the past he helped with the Paradise Meals on Wheels and the Black Rock
Auxiliary. He enjoyed going to auctions.
Surviving are 5 children: James D. husband of Millie Danner Eby of
Lititz, Joyce Shorts of Paradise, Elaine Kreiser of Gap, H. Duane Eby of
Brownstown, Evelyn wife of Silvan Benner of Lancaster, 15 grandchildren,
30 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by a granddaughter: Cindy Eby Lewis and a brother, Richard Eaby.
Funeral service will take place from the Strasburg Mennonite Church,
1514 Village Road, Strasburg, PA on Wednesday, May 6th at 11 a.m. with
Pastor John D. Meck officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining
church cemetery. There will be a viewing on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8
p.m. at the Shivery Funeral Home, 3214 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise
and again at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
