John
G. Eisler was a member of the New York National Guard, HQ & Service4
Company, 134th Medical Regiment.
He is shown here as having a three-year commitment but
the enlistment date of 26 September 1919 actually predates his birth
date which is correctly shown in the upper right-hand corner.
'More importantly, the record states that he was
activated to regular Army on 27 January 1941 which directly correlates
with the National Archives record of his enlistment date
A parachutist volunteer, Pvt Eisler was transferred from
the 507th PIR to the 508th PIR on 16 October 1941 as a member of the
cadre team. Pfc Eisler was demobilized on 28 October 1945 and
wasted no time in getting hitched to Lilin Moore on 28 December 1945.
But
he still had an obligation left on his 8-yer commitment to Uncle Sam so
John registered with the draft board in Fayetteville, NC after he
had marred and was living in his wife's home area.. At the time of
registration he is listed as Unemployed and a Discharged Serviceman.
His mother-in-law was listed as his most knowledgeable secondary
contact. |
