This
draft card for Willis S. Elliott is confusing as it implies that he
registered for the draft ca. 1945. However three different sources
indicate that he enlisted on 19 May 1942. Since it shows he was
discharged the local draft board was perhaps updating its records after
he returned home after he was discharged on 27 September 1945.
On 19 January 1950, Willis submitted this application
for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans bonus. He was credited with 16
months of domestic duty and 24 months of foreign service which earned
him the full $500 bonus amount.
