WENTWORTH P. EMMONS
Wentworth P. Emmons enlisted at Los Angeles, CA on 7 October, 1943.

Following the completion of jump school Pvt Emmons was  was shipped overseas.  On 30 July 1944 he was one of many replacement troops transferred to the 508th to fill vacancies generated by the Normandy campaign.

Pvt Emmons took part in the jump into Holland and on 21 September 1944 he was listed as seriously injured in action and evacuated to a field hospital.  After treatment he rejoined the company on 10 October 1944.

However, he had lingering effects and was repeatedly hospitalized during the next few months.  On 16 April 1945 he was transferred to a hospital in the U.S. for further treatment and  was discharged from the Army on 5 May 1945.

Wentworth died in Dade County, FL on 132 March 1971.  His final resting place has not yet been located.

After the war, Wentworth apparently developed a taste for, and a career in, art as an auctioneer and dealer.  He became a frequent, and well-to-do, traveler to Europe and was often accompanied by his wife and sometimes by their children and even with a governess. He sailed in First Class cabins and flew various air routes when international air travel was a new, and expensive, means of travel
