Erick B. 'Rick' Erickson
LAKEWOOD, Colo. Former Helena resident Erick B. "Rick" Erickson, passed away May 4, 2005, in Lakewood. Rick was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Early, Iowa. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in civil engineering and spent his professional career with the Federal Highway Administration until he retired in 1980.
He transferred with the Highway Administration from Cheyenne, Wyo., in 1964 to Helena, where he remained until 1976. The Ericksons attended First Lutheran Church, and Rick was a devoted member of the Last Chance Kiwanis Club.
His wife Rita of Lakewood, four children, 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren survive Rick. Condolences may be sent to Rita Erickson, 2671 S. Garland St., Lakewood, CO 80227.

Erick registered for the draft in Sac City, IA on 12
February 1943 and was inducted into the Army at Camp Dodge, Herrold, IA
on 6 January 1944.
On 5 August 1944, Pvt Erickson was transferred from 82nd
Airborne Division HQ to Company C, 508th PIR.
On 20 September 1944, Pvt Ericson was listed as slightly
wounded in action. He was able to return to duty on 25 September
1944.
He was appointed to the grade of Pfc on 1 January 1945.
His military decorations include the purple heart and the
Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Holland campaign and
Airborne operations. |
