DELBERT E. FAIRBANKS

Delbert E. Fairbanks was born June 20, 1916, and died February 18, 1989 in Denver, CO. He was the son of Floyd Erwin Fairbanks and Ethel Mary Adcock.

Delbert enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 18, 1943 in Tacoma Washington and volunteered for parachutist duty.  He was assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 508th PIR.

On D-Day, he assisted Cpl Rock Merritt and a Private James in taking out a machine gun nest as they were proceeding to Hill 30.  Delbert was wounded the next day and received the Purple Heart

He was laid to rest in Plot: X-238 of the Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado
