Stephen Fallat
Derry

Stephen Fallat, 80, of Derry, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, in Punxsutawney Area Hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Bradenville, a son of the late George and Anna Zaleta Fallat. Stephen was retired as a mold and case maker from Carborundum. He was a proud World War II veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Stephen was a POW and was very proud of all his army medals, which include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and Bronze Star Attachment, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award, Honorable Service Lapel Button World War II and the Marksman Badge and Rifle Bar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Paul Fallat, and two sisters, Anne Monticue and Mary Roof. Stephen (devoted husband) is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois A. Ankney Fallat, and was the beloved father of L. Christine "Chris" Fallat, of Punxsutawney, and Stephanie A. Fallat, of Derry. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Giordan, of Derry, and Elizabeth Piper, of Bradenville; three brothers, George Fallat and his wife, Minnie, of Latrobe, John Fallat and his wife, Peg, of Bradenville, and Michael Falat and his wife, Flo, of Latrobe; a sister-in-law, Jean Falat, of Derry; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry, where services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. with his nephew, Pastor James Monticue, officiating. Interment will follow in Ligonier Valley Cemetery with the Ligonier Valley Veterans Honor Guard presenting military honors.
