Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus
Application for Robert Fawcett completed on 13 March 1950. He received
a total of $450 based on 36 months of service split evenly between domestic
and foreign duty.
Robert enlisted at Wilkes Barre, PA on 27
October 1942 and ws assigned to Company D, 508th PIR.
Pvt Fawcett was wounded in action of 28
December 1944 and evacuated to a field hospital. On 12 April 1945 he
was transferred to a second hospital.
Pvt Fawcett returned to U.S. soil 20 June
1945 and received further treatment at an undisclosed location but possibly
at what is today the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center..
He was finally discharged on 25 October
1945 at the Separation Center, US Army Air Field, Sioux Falls, SD (now the
Joe Foss Field Air National Guard Station). |
